Highly touted prep offensive tackle Lamont Rogers released his top eight including Tennessee football on Monday afternoon.

Florida State, Missouri, LSU, Oklahoma, Southern Methodist, Texas and Texas A&M joined Tennessee in the four-star offensive tackle’s top group.

Rogers ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 45 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The Mesquite native also ranks as the No. 6 offensive tackle and the No. 11 player in the state of Texas in the 2025 recruiting class.

Josh Heupel and Tennessee are in pursuit of a number of highly touted offensive tackles in the 2025 recruiting cycle. The Vols are one of the top contenders for David Sanders (No. 1 OT), Josh Petty (No. 5 OT) and Jaelyne Matthews (No. 27 OT) in this recruiting cycle.

Rogers is a multi sport star at Horn High School in the Dallas suburbs, playing basketball and soccer as well as football.

While the Vols are in Rogers’ top eight, Tennessee still has plenty of work to do to become a serious contender to land the elite offensive tackle. Rogers has yet to visit Tennessee and has taken five visits to Oklahoma, three visits to Texas and two visits to SMU.

The 6-foot-6, 311-pound offensive tackle has scheduled official visits to Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M but has yet to schedule his fifth and final official visit.

Tennessee loses two of its top three offensive tackles— Dayne Davis and John Campbell Jr— after the 2024 season but returns Lance Heard, Sham Umarov, Bennett Warren and a number of other underclassmen offensive tackles.

The Vols’ 2025 recruiting class currently contains nine commitments but none of them are from offensive linemen. Tennessee’s nine commit recruiting class currently ranks No. 15 nationally according to the 247sports team rankings.
