For the past several seasons, Lee Xixis has been a fixture on the sidelines for Central High School girls’ soccer as an assistant coach. Now after a year off, Xixis is back with the program as its new head coach.
“I’m excited to get started. There’s a whole lot to sort through in the first week or so getting everything set up and planned,” Xixis said. “I’m excited to get rolling and get our conditioning going and get everything set so we can get started with summer practice.
The announcement was made Tuesday, April 9. He is taking over for outgoing coach David Amado, who stepped down from the role following the 2018 season.
"We are excited to welcome Coach Xixis back into the Raider family. He will provide excellent leadership and experience," CHS Athletic Director Rebecca Koger said in a statement.
Xixis previously spent nine seasons working as an assistant under Amado. He had been with the Lady Raiders since his graduation from Maryville University, where he also played soccer. After getting married, buying a house and having a child, Xixis took this past season off to focus on his family, returning to take the head coaching role upon its opening.
Xixis is looking forward to helping the girls compete and grow as soccer players. His experience with the older members of the team is something he believes will help with the transition and allow them to hit the ground running.
“I’m familiar with who will be upcoming juniors and seniors, so I kind of know, at least half the team, what we’re working with,” Xixis said. “Obviously I’m shooting to get first place in the district. That’s your goal no matter what.”
On Saturday, Coffee County Middle School’s Naomi Abiose placed second in the Division AA Girl’s High Jump event at the TMSAA State Championship Meet in Clarksville, Tennessee.
On Thursday night, the CCCHS Football Team played an intrasquad scrimmage at Carden-Jarrell Field with the White Team picking up a 13-12 win over the Red Team.
On Saturday, the Coffee Middle Red Raiders fell 3-2 to Blackman in the Section Semifinals while the Lady Raiders beat Page 7-4 in the Section Semifinals before losing to Oakland in the Section Championship.
On Friday, Coffee County Middle’s Naomi Abiose placed first in the high jump, Sunday Orner placed first in the long jump and the Red Raiders picked up several top three event finishes in the Central Tennessee Conference Track and Field Championships at Raider Academy.
On Friday night, the CCMS Lady Raiders beat the Stewarts Creek Lady Falcons 4-1 and the Red Raiders edged out the Mill Creek Mavericks 2-0 as both Coffee County Middle School Teams advanced to the Section Semifinals.
On Thursday night, the CCCHS Lady Raiders beat Columbia 10-5 in the 4A District 9 Semifinals, but lost in the District Championship Game to the host Lincoln County Lady Falcons.
