Franklin County's Ruby Webb, wearing No. 184, runs down a path during the Class A-AA state meet Friday at Sanders Ferry Park. Webb finished 79th in the girls race at the meet with a time of 22:22.37.
The Franklin County High School boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Class A-AA state championship meet Friday at Sanders Ferry Park in Hendersonville.
The cross country Rebels and Rebelettes had three total runners finish in the top 100 of their respective races for the day with the event featuring more than 500 runners from across the state.
Sophomore Ruby Webb, the lone Franklin County runner with prior experience competing in the state meet, had the best placement of the day for the Rebelettes as she finished 79th out of 249 runners in the girls race with a time of 22:22.37.
Webb improved on her performance from the 2022 Class AAA state meet, shaving about a minute off of her time from her appearance at the state level as a freshman.
Audrey Stewart also raced into the top 100 for the Rebelettes as she placed 97th for the meet with a mark of 22:52.76.
Catherine Money and Caitlyn Cashion were next in line for the Rebelettes as they finished 122nd and 124th, respectively, with times of 23:21.72 and 23:26.
The remaining runners for the Rebelettes and their times and placements for the day included Zulema Martinez, 181st, 25:30.08; Lily Heath, 192nd, 26:07.3; and Addy Hannaway, 236th, 29:58.89.
The Rebelettes finished 18th out of 31 teams in the group standings with a total score of 477. Signal Mountain finished first overall with a team score of 62.
Owen Stewart finished with the top time for the Rebels in the boys race as he placed 96th out of 259 runners with a mark of 18:11.31.
Josh Smith and Jasper Henley finished the race within a half-second of each other as they took 171st and 172nd, respectively, with times of 19:22.95 and 19:23.2.
Daniel Heath followed closely behind in 180th place with a mark of 19:29.93.
The remaining runners for the Rebels and their times and placements for the day included Austin Heath, 208th, 20:12.99; Cristian Fravel, 217th, 20:33.42; and Michael Vasenko, 232nd, 21:18.96.
The Rebels’ group score of 665 put them in 24th place out of 32 teams in the boys rankings. Signal Mountain also took home the boys state title with a team score of 55.
The Class A-AA state meet marked the end of the cross country season for Franklin County.
