CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Sam Lipsey, head coach of the Northeast Eagles, announced on Twitter Tuesday night that he will resign as head coach after only one season.

“I’ve decided to resign from my position as head football coach at Northeast High School,” said Lipsey on Twitter. “A big thank you to everyone who has supported me on this incredible journey! Coaching is something I’ll revisit eventually, but now, my family is taking the front seat. Go Eagles!”

Lipsey was hired in April 2023, approximately one year ago. Lipsey went 1-9 in his tenure with the Eagles, earning his lone win in week nine against Northwest.

Following this coaching change, the next coach that takes the reins at Northeast will be the program’s fourth coach in as many years.
