North Greene beats Cloudland in Region title, clinches home field for sectionals

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WCYB) — For the sixth time this season, the softball diamond would open play to a meeting between North Greene and Cloudland.

In an afternoon matinee on Thursday, it was for all the marbles of a region crown and the right to home field in the sectional round.

Thursday's meeting also marked the fourth game between the two in just seven days - as Cloudland stormed back to win two straight over the Huskies to win the district title on Saturday.

But this time around, the Lady Huskies stole back the hardware - holding off the Highlanders for a 3-1 victory to win the region title.

While both sides will still compete for a shot at the state tournament, the Huskies will have the luxury of playing on their home field against Wartburg as Cloudland will travel to Oliver Springs.
