ETSU Baseball sweeps Saturday double-header against The Citadel

ETSU Baseball came away with two big wins over The Citadel on Saturday.

After the rain cancelled their game on Friday, ETSU hit the diamond at 1 p.m. on Saturday for a double-header with the Bulldogs.

Starting off strong, it was a Cody Miller sac-fly that put the Bucs on the board in the first inning. Tommy Barth would keep the runs coming with a two run single in the second to give ETSU the 3-0 lead.

The Citadel would bounce back in the third to make it a tie game before ETSU added four runs in the bottom of the inning on a Jackson Green sac-fly and a homerun from Ashton King.

The Bucs would add some insurance runs by way of homeruns from Nick Iannantone and Tommy Barth on their way to the 10-6 win in game one.

Carter Fink picked up the win on the mound for the Bucs going six innings giving up four runs and collecting five strikeouts.

Tommy Barth led the Bucs in hits going 4-5 at the plate with a homerun.

Onto game two, ETSU once again setting the tone early as Noah Gent knocks in a run on an RBI-single in the first.

The Citadel would even the score in the third, but at the bottom of the inning, Gent hit a sac-fly to add a run before Green could knock another run in with the RBI-single.

Ryan McCarthy strikes again in the fourth before the Bucs could add three in the seventh and two in the eighth.

After blanking the Bulldogs in the top of the ninth, the Bucs secure the 9-2 victory to secure the series win on Saturday.

Jace Hyde picked up the win with six innings of work giving up two runs and collecting nine strikeouts.

ETSU is back in action to wrap up the series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
