Last week saw the Yellow Jackets in action against the Mountain Lions of SAS and the Lady Trojans of Soddy Daisy.
For the second year in a row the Yellow Jackets swept the season series against SAS. The scores from Monday evening were 25-20, 25-21, 25-18. On Thursday evening, district rivals Soddy Daisy came up the mountain for their match against the Yellow Jackets.
The Yellow Jackets started off sluggish against the Lady Trojans losing the first 2 sets 7- 25 and 11- 25. In the 3rd set the Jackets woke up and played really well, although they lost the third set. The Lady Trojans had to work for it ending the 3rd set 30-32.
Stats for this week were Darra Sanders 4 aces, 3 kills, 4 total blocks; Kimber Thomas had 2 aces, passer rating of 2.63, 9 digs; Peyton Meeks had 3 aces, passer rating of 2.74, 5 kills, 2 total blocks, 2 digs; Lillie Lewis had 3 kills, 5 total blocks, 1 dig; McKenzie Gipson had 2 aces, 5 kills, 1 total block;. Katelyn Nunley who suffered a season ending injury during the Soddy Daisy Game had a passer rating of 2.25 and 1 kill; Allyson Dickerson had 1 ace, passer rating of 2.5, 5 kills; Elektra Parson had a passer rating of 2.68 and 1 dig; Julianna Witt had 1 ace, a passer rating of 2.87, 1 kill, 13 digs; Stormi Nunley had 3 aces, passer rating of 2.77, 11 digs.
JV beat SAS as well and lost to Soddy Daisy. Stat leaders for JV were Hannah Hammers and Scarlett Walkden with 3 aces; Ashlynn Anderson had a passer rating of 2.5; Star Songer had 4 kills; Scarlett Walkden had 3 total blocks; Hollyn Fox had 5 digs.
So far the Jackets have matched their wins from last year with 3 wins. This weeks is the last week of the regular season.
The Yellow Jackets traveled to district rival Signal Mountain on Tuesday, hosted Coffee County for freshman, JV, and Varsity matches, as well as Senior night on Wednesday. They travel Thursday to play the last match of the season against district rival Sequatchie County.
