Rhodes falls in second round of NCAA to No. 3 Franklin and Marshall, 21-3

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Rhodes women's lacrosse team ended their NCAA Tournament run on Sunday, falling to No. 3 Franklin and Marshall College, 21-3
 
The Lynx finish their 2015 season with a 15-2 mark, while the Diplomats advance with an 18-2 record.
 
The Lynx saw the hot offense of Franklin and Marshall rattle off nine straight goals to pull out to an early 9-0 lead. The Lynx had a couple of bright spots in the first half, including a Morgan Fuller feed that ended in a Kendall Cunningham goal, which halted the Lynx scoreless streak at the 13:04 mark.
 
In the final seven minutes of the half, Olivia Holmes buried a Maggie Rippeto set up to give the Lynx their second goal of the contest. The Diplomats found the back of the cage on a couple more occasions, as the Lynx would take a 15-2 deficit into the half.
 
Cunningham opened the second period with a free position goal for the Lynx, her 74th goal of her first-year campaign, pulling the Lynx to 15-3. Rhodes held Franklin and Marshall to just six second half goals, eventually falling in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, 21-3.
 
Rhodes fell short in several categories, being outshot 34-4 also falling in the draw control category, 21-5.  The Lynx scooped up six ground balls.
 
Two net-minders saw action, with Sarah Daniels picking up the start, and six saves while in the goal. Katherine Farmer snagged 15 minutes of action. 
 
In just the Lynx second varsity season, Rhodes won the Southern Athletic Association Conference Tournament, earning a historic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Lynx also picked up a first round win against Meredith College, capping off the 2015 season. The Lynx boasted an average winning margin of 17.2 goals in 2015.
