Tennessee softball is going for the sweep again this season.

The Lady Vols won their second straight SEC regular-season championship for the first time last weekend. They swept the SEC titles last year, also for the first time, and they have a chance to sweep the titles in back-to-back seasons for the third time in conference history. LSU and Florida are the only two teams to accomplish the feat.

No. 1 seed Tennessee (40-9) kicks off the SEC Tournament against No. 8 seed LSU (39-14) at Jane B. Moore Field in Auburn, Alabama on Thursday (6 p.m. ET, SEC Network). UT won the series against LSU at home this season, only dropping one game 1-0 against the Tigers.

The Lady Vols completed the sweep of Kentucky to end the regular season with a walk-off win in the eighth inning Saturday. They have now recorded their 21st consecutive full season with 40 or more wins going into the postseason.

Tennessee softball weather delay vs LSU

Tennessee never made it to the first pitch at 11 a.m. Thursday before a lengthy weather delay began at approximately 10:30 a.m. It was indefinite, and no updated game time was given until 2 p.m., when it was announced the first SEC Tournament quarterfinal of the day wouldn't start until 6 p.m. ET. The second two quarterfinal matchups of the four slated for Thursday were pushed back to Friday morning.
