DAYTON — After sweeping with NW Whitfield (Ga.) last week, the Bradley netters split with Rhea County Monday.
While the Bears notched a second straight shutout, blanking the Golden Eagles 9-0, the Bearettes fell 7-2. Last Thursday, the Bradley girls won 5-4 over the Lady Bruins.
Bradley will travel to East Hamilton Wednesday and McMinn County Thursday.
Bradley improved to 2-1 on the young campaign with singles wins from Britton Carter (8-6), Preston Henderson (8-1), Parker White (8-3), Hunter Fields (8-0), Micah Lee (8-2), and Bryson Stinnett (8-3).
Also taking the doubles play, the Bear tandems were victorious — Henderson/Fields (9-7), Carter/White (8-1) and Lee/Stinnett (8-2).
The Bradley girls got singles wins from No. 1 seed L'Angel Cook 9-8 (7-0) and 3-seed Alliyah Osborne 8-6.
"We have some very young inexperienced girls this year, but they are working hard and improving daily," commented Bradley head coach Franklin Elrod."
Bradley got singles wins from Carter (8-3), Henderson (8-2), White (8-0), Fields (8-0), Lee (8-5) and Stinnett (8-2).
In the doubles action, Henderson/Fields (8-2), Carter/White (8-3) and Lee/Stinnett (8-2) all won.
Bradley's girls got singles wins from Cook (8-4), Carley Horning (8-1) and Osborne (9-8), plus took a pair of doubles matches — Cook/Osborne (8-5) and Horning/Hosanna O'Dell (8-1).
