Tennessee second baseman Christian Moore extended his on-base streak to 13 games during the Vols’ win over Queens on Tuesday night, setting up an opportunity to keep the streak going in a key in-state matchup this weekend.

The No. 1 ranked Vols will head west to take on in-state rival Vanderbilt on Friday night, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday afternoon at Hawkins Field.

Moore’s on-base streak began in the finale of the LSU series in Knoxville back on April 14 and has spanned a series on the road at No. 3 Kentucky, a home series against Missouri, a series on the road against Florida, and a handful of midweek games against Lipscomb, Western Carolina, and Queens.

Moore’s recent game on Tuesday against Queens saw the junior infielder tally two singles and two walks for four on-base appearances.

The Brooklyn, N.Y. native has been dominant for Tennessee at the plate this season, leading Tennessee in at-bats (194), hits (75), home runs (21), and total bases (151). Moore is just three home runs shy of Tennessee’s all-time single-season record and could eclipse that mark with a productive weekend at the plate against the Vols’ rivals.

Moore was also named the Dick Howser Trophy National Player of the Month for April on Friday, announced by the Collegiate Baseball Writers Association during the Florida series last weekend in Gainesville.

Tennessee and star infielder Christian Moore only have seven games left on the regular season schedule including a three-game series at Vanderbilt, a midweek game against Belmont, and a three-game series against South Carolina before the postseason.
