‘Toppers Cruise to Sixth Straight Region Tennis Title
GREENEVILLE — Science Hill coughed up just five games in whipping Greeneville, 4-0, for a sixth consecutive Region 1-AA tennis title Thursday at the Greene County Tennis Complex.
Newton Raff and Jackson Temple swept to love and love wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles over Nick Thompas and Ace Patel.
Cooper Weems came through with a 1 & 1 victory over Dominic Tweed with Shreeyan Papireddy polishing off Jack Lampe, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
“We had a really good day. I was proud of the boys as we came out, took care of business and played like I hoped we would,” said Science Hill coach Kelly Lane. “Everybody was on top of their games today.”
The No. 1 singles match was halted after the first four singles win with the ‘Toppers Daniel Haddadin leading Greeneville’s Jackson Weems, 6-5.
Science Hill advances to the sectional round, bidding for a fifth straight trip to the state tournament.
