The McCallie lacrosse team advanced to its third straight Division II-AAA Tennessee Scholastic Lacrosse Association state championship game with Friday night’s 10-6 road victory over Montgomery Bell Academy in the state semifinals.
The Blue Tornado opened up a close game, scoring six second-half goals after a 3-3 halftime score. The score was knotted at 1-1 after one quarter of play.
Henry Boyd, Zach Chari, Aiden Lee and Gray McLean scored two goals each, with Boyd’s and McLean’s coming in the decisive second half.
William Cole and Mac Stratton also netted a goal apiece.
D.J. Horne and Cohen Hunter split time as the McCallie goalies.
The game was a rematch of last year’s state championship game won by MBA. McCallie will face Memphis University School next Saturday in Nolensville in an attempt to win its 10th lacrosse state title.
