WESTMORELAND — The visiting Trousdale County High School girls basketball team suffered a 45-29 loss to Westmoreland on Jan. 26.

The Lady Jackets suffered a 48-15 loss when the two teams played in Hartsville on Jan. 5.

In the rematch, the visitors fell behind 9-5 in the opening period before trailing 22-9 at the half and 31-15 after three quarters.

Junior Presley Clark netted 12 points on four 3-pointers. Sophomore Cayden Ray followed with eight points. Junior Janae Aponte had four, Braylee Potts two, Emma Elmore two and Emma Holder one.

• On Monday, the Trousdale County girls played at Jackson County, but their offensive woes continued as they scored only seven points in the first half, leading to a 51-29 loss.

It was the Lady Jackets’ fourth consecutive setback and second loss of the season to the Lady Blue Devils, falling 40-39 when Jackson County visited on Dec. 15.

“We seem to struggle playing at Jackson, and tonight was another night that seemed to happen again,” TCHS assistant coach Kyle McKinney said. “We didn’t bring the energy and passion it takes to win against a tough team like Jackson, and it showed tonight.”

Ray produced 13 points, all in the second half. Elmore finished with eight points, Potts five, Jazmyne Dunn two and Clark one.

The Lady Jackets are scheduled to play at Wilson Central on Monday, will host Monterey for homecoming on Thursday and will make their first-ever trip to Liberty Creek on Friday.

The games can be heard on WTNK 93.5 and 93.9 FM, 1090 AM, and funradiotn.com.
