Pats baseball to host district tournament

After a dominant regular season, the Henry County High School Patriots baseball team has brought the District 14-4A baseball tournament to Henry County.

The squad sealed the regular season championship on April 16, with a 17-0 three-inning victory over Kenwood.

The team, which has a 20-9 overall record this year, entered this week’s tournament as number one seed.

The Patriots have made a convincing argument as the best team in the district. They’ve easily handled fifth seed Kenwood and fourth seed Clarksville Northeast, both of which are winless against the Patriots after two matchups each.

The Pats also won both games against West Creek, but had a tougher time against Dickson County, losing one of two.

The district baseball tournament, which began Tuesday, continues today with a 4:30 p.m. matchup between the losers of Wednesday’s games.

The winners of those games will square off at 7 p.m.

According to Steve Summers, HCHS athletic director, there will be two gates for admittance to upcoming games.

The first gate is, as usual, located at the top of the soccer parking lot. A second gate is located by the walking track off of Harding Road.

All tickets are $7 in cash at the gate.

TSSAA and TACA passes will be accepted. Red Swarm, season passes, and employee passes cannot be accepted because of TSSAA regulations.
