BASEBALL

District 6-AAAA

Ooltewah 6-3, East Hamilton 5-1

The Owls swept East Hamilton to earn a spot in the District 6-AAAA championship against Bradley Central, taking the first game 6-5 in nine innings and taking game two 3-1.

Conner Reilly slapped a pinch hit single to left in the bottom of the ninth in game one, scoring Brock Smallen, for the win. Drew Wood started for Ooltewah and went five innings, striking out six and allowing four runs. JT Trent went 2.1 innings in relief for the win, giving up two hits and retiring four on strikeouts.

The Owls’ Caleb Henson went 3-5 with two RBIs. Grayson Maddox went 3-5 for the Hurricanes with two RBIs and two runs scored.

In game two Ooltewah came back from 1-0 deficit, scoring twice in the top of the sixth and once in the seventh. Luke Parr scattered five hits for the win with eight strikeouts, as well as leading the Owls at the plate with two hits with an RBI..

The Canes’ Carson Davis also went the full seven innings on the bump, striking out nine. Davis Whitener had a pair of hits for East Hamilton.

Silverdale 2-13, Knox Grace 6-6

The Seahawks split with Knox Grace, forcing a game three rubber match in their series with the Rams. In game one, Knox Grace bested the Seahawks, 6-2. The Rams scored five runs on one hit in the top of the fifth on two walks, a double and a fielder’s choice.

Maddox Jones took the loss for Silverdale, going four innings with two strikeouts and six base on balls with five earned runs. AJ Ward got the win for the Rams with a complete game effort with six strikeouts. Tanner Bayne led Silverdale at the plate, going 2-3.

The Seahawks bounced back in game two behind Brett Oxford’s two homeruns and dingers by Drake Dills and Owen Phillips. Dills also had a double, while Bayne picked up two more hits.

Maddux Hasty notched the win for the Seahawks.

Boyd Buchanan 3-8, King’s Academy 2-0

The Bucs of Boyd Buchanan made quick work of The King’s Academy in their double-header, winning 3-2 and 8-0. Boyd Buchanan picked up a total of 19 hits in their two wins, while limiting the Lions to seven.

The Bucs won on a walk-off in game one, scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh on an error when pinch runner Brayden Standefer scored as TKA’s pitcher mishandled a bunt by Cayden Henry.

Haden Griffith and Aaron Hise each had two hits for Boyd. Read Butler took the pitching win, striking out four in seven innings on the bump.

Hise was again tops at the plate in game two for the Bucs, going 2-3.Eli Gardenhire got the win on the mound, allowing one hit in five innings with three Ks.

In game 2, the Irish’s Justin Allen went 3-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.

It only took two innings for the Lady Canes to rack up 14 runs to run-rule Howard. Bailey Poschke and Alana Johnson each went 2-2 for East Hamilton with Johnson having a homerun in the mix. Kailyn Mendoza retired two Lady Tigers on strikes while giving up one hit to earn the win in the circle.

Ma’Ryah went 3-4 at he plate to pace the Bearettes to their 8-2 win while K Callahan and M Long combined to limit Ooltewah to just here hits. Callahanstruck out six and allowed one hit in gaining the win. P Sanders had two hits with two RBIs for Bradley.
