REGION CHAMPS: Gordonsville Baseball Takes Down East Robertson In Region Title Game, 6-0

The Gordonsville Tigers won their 7th consecutive postseason game Saturday afternoon as they defeated East Robertson in the Region 4-1A championship game, 6-0.

The Tigers shut out the Indians on the arm of pitcher Colton Bennett, who struck out 8 batters while allowing 1 walk in 6 innings. Sam Albritton drove in 2 runs for the Tigers in the win.

After three scoreless innings, Gordonsville scratched a run across in the top of the fourth inning as a Brodie Sykes single scored Tristan Wood to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

Gordonsville took control in the top of the fifth as they posted 4 runs in the frame via hits by Tucker Smith, Albritton and Edward Rivera to extend their lead to 5-0.

Gordonsville tacked on a run in the top of the seventh as a Dalton Hancock sacrifice fly scored Wood to give Gordonsville a 6-0 advantage.

Albritton came in to close the contest for Gordonsville and sat East Robertson down in order with three strikeouts to secure Gordonsville’s Region 4-1A championship.

The Tigers will host a 3-game series in the Class 1A sectional against Whitwell this week.
