In a stunning display of skill and determination, Cloudland claimed the Division 1A championship with a resounding 6-1 victory over North Greene at Unaka High School on Saturday.

From the onset, the North Greene Varsity Lady Huskies faced an uphill battle against a relentless Cloudland squad. Despite an early lead secured by North Greene’s Heidi Harmon in the second inning, Cloudland quickly turned the tide in the bottom of the fourth. Lakin Blair and Isabella Christman’s clutch singles propelled Cloudland into the lead, setting the stage for their eventual triumph.

Pitcher Reagan Turbyfill showcased her prowess on the mound for Cloudland, delivering a masterful performance, giving up only two hits and one unearned run over seven innings while striking out eight batters and walking four. Meanwhile, Hannah Brooks of North Greene Lady Huskies struggled to contain Cloudland’s offense, surrendering five runs on nine hits.

Despite a valiant effort from Brooks and Harmon, who each collected a hit for North Greene, Cloudland’s relentless hitting and error-free fielding proved too much to overcome. Led by Christman’s three RBIs and standout performances from Eowyn McCoury and Savannah McCoury, Cloudland dominated both offensively and defensively, securing the victory and the Division 1A championship.
