Cassie McDaniel came off the bench to score 12 points and led No. 8-seeded Crossville past No. 9 Ider 58-40 in the varsity girl play-in game Saturday at the Sand Mountain high school basketball tournament at Fyffe.

Crossville (6-7) advanced to face No. 1 North Sand Mountain in a quarterfinal late Monday.

Mattie Lacey closed with 10 points, seven rebounds and five steals for Crossville. Jaycie Bobo added nine points and seven boards. Kassadi Bobo dished out five assists.

For Ider, Hannah Culpepper and Jackie Allday closed with 12 points apiece. Makenzie Hughes contributed 10. Culpepper added six rebounds and four steals.

Ider dropped into a consolation game Thursday afternoon at 4 at the DeKalb County Schools Coliseum in Rainsville.

FRIDAY

Crossville 43,

Guntersville 32

At Crossville, Macy Smith and Lacey scored nine points apiece for the Lady Lions in the Class 4A, Area 12 game.

Smith grabbed a team-high five rebounds. Lacey had three assists for Crossville (2-2 in area).

Morgan Gaston had 10 points for Guntersville.

Plainview 47,

Douglas 46

At Rainsville, Savannah Willingham poured in 16 points for the Lady Bears, who also got 14 from Destiny Lowden and 10 from Abigail Hampton.

Olivia Graham paced the winners with five rebounds. Lowden made eight steals and tied Hampton for team honors with four assists.

Collinsville 48,

Coosa Christian 8

At Gadsden, Savannah Boyles scored 13 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for Collinsville in the 1A, Area 10 matchup.

Trinity Garner added 10 points for the Lady Panthers (3-6, 2-2).

Section 59,

Fyffe 56

At Section, Casey Brooks led Fyffe with 17 points in the 2A, Area 12 game.

Haiyden Dobbs scored 11 points for the Lady Devils (4-6, 1-1), while Carly Thrash contributed eight rebounds. Cierra Posey made three steals, and Madison Buster dished out five assists.

Woodville 81,

Valley Head 27

At Woodville, Kenzie Willingham finished with 16 points for Valley Head (5-4, 0-2) in the 1A, Area 11 game.

Sylvania 52,

Geraldine 49

At Sylvania, Ashley McKee and Morgan Frazier scored 15 points apiece for Sylvania in the 3A, Area 11 showdown.

Lauren King added 14 points.

MaKenzie Bearden scored 13 points for Geraldine (5-7, 1-2). Logan Rogers contributed 11.
