Dallas Cowboys defensive end Sam Williams has been suspended for three games by the NFL, the league announced on Monday.
A high school standout at Lee (now Percy Julian) in Montgomery, Williams was suspended for violating the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy.

Williams will be suspended for the Cowboys’ next three games, but he wouldn’t have played anyway. Williams has been on injured reserve after sustaining a season-ending knee injury at training camp on July 28. Williams suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee.
But players on injured reserve get paid, too, and Williams will lose three games’ worth of salary. Based on his 2024 pay of $1.059 million, the suspension will cost Williams around $186,882.
Williams was arrested twice in 2023 in traffic-related incidents.
In January 2023, Williams was charged with reckless driving in connection with an accident in December. Authorities determined Williams was driving nearly 100 mph before being involved in a collision.
In August 2023, a traffic stop in Frisco, Texas, resulted in Williams being charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
