The DeKalb County Basketball Tournament tipped off Monday at Crossville High School with four varsity games.
In the first game of the night, the 5th seed Geraldine Lady Bulldogs took on the 8th seed Lady Tigers of Valley Head. Geraldine took control early and never lost it. Geraldine led at quarter breaks, 17-3, 24-12, 37-18 and won the game by a final score of 52-23.
Geraldine was led by Jaleele Edwards who had 10 points. The Lady Tigers of Valley Head were led by Grace Black who had 9 points.
Geraldine advanced to a Tuesday night game with the 4th seed Fyffe Lady Red Devils.
In the second game of the night, the 5th seed Sylvania Rams took on the 8th seed Ider Hornets. Just like the first game of the night the 5th seed Rams controlled the game from the start. Sylvania led at quarter breaks 28-9, 49-28, 73-42 and won the game with a final score of 88-49.
Bennett Hawes led Sylvania with 25 points and Finn Turner added 21 points. Ider was led by Williams who had 19 points and Kidwell who added 11.
Sylvania advanced to take on the 4th seed Collinsville Panthers Tuesday Night.
In game 3, the 6th seed Collinsville Lady Panthers took on the host team the 7th seed Crossville Lady Lions. The Lady Panthers led throughout the game and at quarter breaks 14-11, 29-12, 46-22, winning the game by a final score of 56-24.
Collinsville advanced to take on the 3rd seed Sylvania Wednesday night.
In the final game of night one, the host team and 6th seed Crossville Lions took on the 7th seed Valley Head Tigers in what would be the best contest of the night. The Tigers of Valley Head led after the first quarter 15-12. In the second quarter Crossville battled back to take a six point half time led 29-23. Crossville led at the end of the third 43-36. Crossville would hang on to win the game 64-58.
Crossville had four
players who had double figures, Edward Hernandez led with 16 points, Jadiel Gonzalez, Levi Bouldin, Kaile Hatley all had 10 points each. Valley Head was led by Daniel Gibson who had 23 points and Cayson McElrath who had 17.
The Crossville Lions advanced to take on the 3rd seed Fyffe Red Devils on Wednesday Night.
