SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Rhodes College women's swimming and diving team remained undefeated Saturday in Sewanee, Tenn., defeating the University of the South 168-125. The Lynx swam tough after a week of training in Cocoa Beach, Fla.
Mary Portera and
Allie Zeidan led the Lynx, with Portera winning both the one and three meter diving competitions, and Zeidan winning the 100, 200, and 500 freestyles. Portera's score of 204.70 on the three meter shattered her own Rhodes College record by 16 points. Her score of 217.20 on the one meter marked her highest score of the season by over 24 points.
Zeidan posted her fastest dual meet times of the season in the 100 and 500 with times of 57.33 and 5:24.70, while her time of 2:00.83 outpaced her closest competitor by nearly two seconds.
Virginia Carr continued her banner freshman season with a pair of victories in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes.
Olivia Muehlberger capped a strong day with a victory in the 100 fly in a time of 1:03.33.
The Lynx 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays bookended the day with emphatic victories. The medley consisting of
Corinne Nabors,
Virginia Carr,
Olivia Muehlberger, and
Anna Singletary posted a 1:56.97, winning by nearly 3 seconds, while the free relay consisting of
Kathryn Campbell, Killian Franks,
Corinne Nabors, and
Allie Zeidan posted a 1:45.33 to cap a strong showing by the Lynx.
Rhodes returns to action in two weeks, traveling to Arkadelphia, Ark. to take on Henderson State University on Jan. 24 at 1 p.m.
