Roundup: Winter Haven takes down Edgewater in 6A-6 semis

ORLANDO — Winter Haven bounced back from a poor third quarter and defeated Orlando Edgewater 65-60 on Wednesday night in the Class 6A, District 7 boys basketball tournament.

Senior Vintrell Moore scored 20 points, and freshman Isaac Celiscar added 17 points to lead the Blue Devils.

After taking a 12-point lead in the fourth quarter, Winter Haven was outscored 40-27 in the middle two quarters, including 24-13 in the third quarter, and trailed by one point heading into the fourth quarter.

The Blue Devils, behind the leadership of Tyler Williams who took over as point guard for the injured Rolijah Hardy, outscored Edgewater, 18-12 in the final eight minutes to come away with the win.

WAUCHULA — Sebastian Rosado scored 24 points, and Jaden Excell scored 20 points with five steals and four assists to lead Lake Wales past Hardee.

The Highlanders (12-5) will play at Auburndale for the district championship at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Also for Lake Wales, Donald Gatlin scored 13 points with five assists and two steals, and Phillipp Davis added 11 points and six rebounds.

Auburndale 73, Sebring 46

AUBURNDALE — Isaiah McClain scored 16 points, and Nehemiah Turner added 14 points as the Bloodhounds routed Sebring.

Ten players scored for Auburndale, including Diego Platas-Ivan who scored all of his 10 points in the final quarter for Auburndale.

Marshell O'Hern led Sebring with 19 points.

CLASS 4A, DISTRICT 11

Discovery 69, Tenoroc 59

LAKE ALFRED — Marquise Rue scored 25 point and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Spartans. 

Bendley Milford and Anderson Exactas also scored in double figures with 12 and 10 points respectively, and Will Stallworth added nine assists, five steals and four rebounds.
