Saturday’s semifinals

Mariner 6, St. Petersburg Lakewood 0: The Tritons (19-5-2) will play Weeki Wachee on Tuesday for a berth in the state Class 4A final four after routing St. Petersburg Lakewood (17-4).

Weeki Wachee 2, South Sumter 1: The Hornets will make the journey south to take on Mariner this Tuesday. Weeki Wachee (17-3) broke a 1-all tie with South Sumter (8-15) with 12 minutes remaining.

Friday’s semifinals

North Fort Myers 1, Naples 0: The second consecutive 1-0 win has propelled the Red Knights (16-2-3) into the Region 5A-3 championship. At stake: A berth in the state Class 5A final four. Sophia Kerns scored on a Michelle Horan assist. The Red Knights had several shots hit the goal pipes and bounce away, coach Nick Erickson said. He added that North’s defense was dominant Friday.

Osceola 3, Countryside 2: Osceola (14-5-1), the District 5A-10 titlist, downed another district winner to advance to the regional final.

Lemon Bay 2, Mariner 1: The Manta Rays get revenge for a 3-1 overtime loss in the district final. Ariana Wilson scored for the Tritons (15-5-3).

Softball

North Fort Myers 4, Naples 1: Red Knights coach Jeff Miner got his 250th career victory as North (1-1) won a game in which all the runs were unearned. Kendell Wylie went the distance on the mound for the Red Knights, giving up four hits and striking out six. Naples pitcher Haelee Angelico struck out 15 and allowed two hits, but was victimized by four unearned runs. Wylee scored twice.

Bonita Springs 6, Cape Coral 5: The Bullsharks pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. For the Seahawks (1-1), Rachel Manes was 3-for-3, drove in three runs and scored three times. Abby Garcia (2-for-3) and Camryn Maurer (2-for-4) had an RBI each.

Ida Baker 12, Lehigh 2: Juliana Nieves drove in four runs for the Bulldogs (2-1), going 2-for-3 with a triple and also scoring a run. Avery Taylor tripled as well, driving in two runs and scoring once. Alana Hutchinson drove in two runs, and Dominique Parker and Zoe DeJournett added an RBI each. Allisyn Hemminger struck out seven for the win.

Bishop Verot 5, LaBelle 1: Ashley Smallwood was 2-for-2, drove in two runs and scored for the Vikings (1-0). Audrey Mills was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, and Courtney Teeter was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Victoria Ash struck out 12 batters.

Baseball

Seacrest Country Day 8, Bishop Verot 3: Joseph De La Nuez doubled and had two RB for the Vikings (2-1). Brady Loughren went 3-for-3 and scored a run, and Preston Haben (1-for-3) drove in a run.

Bonita Springs 15, Oasis 3: Ryan Dewitt, Brady Kavanaugh and Kevin Leal drove in the Sharks’ (2-1) runs. Frank Haba went 2-for-3.

Ida Baker 7, Lehigh 3: Matt Moreno had three RBI, going 2-for-3 with a homer, a double and scoring a run. Steven Thompson, Jake Ellis and Aiden Powers each drove in a Bulldogs (1-2) run.

Naples 94, Mariner 57: Naples (24-4) will be the host in the second round of the regional playoffs. The Tritons’ season ends at 14-9.

Port Charlotte 63, Barron Collier 52: The Pirates (17-3) will provide the opposition for Naples after taking down the Cougars (16-7).

Baseball

Bishop Verot 6, South Fort Myers 1: Kevin RisCassi led the Vikings at the plate, going 3-for-3 and driving in two runs. Preston Hall and Brady Loughren also had RBI for Bishop Verot (2-0). Josiah Velazquez allowed one unearned run on three hits over five innings.

Oasis 22, Dunbar 5: Tony Suarez had six RBI, going 4-for-5 with a double and two runs scored as the Sharks (2-0) rolled past Dunbar. Ryan Dewitt went 2-for-3, walked twice, drove in three runs and scored four times. Frank Haba (2-for-5) added three RBI. Dunbar pitchers surrendered 14 hits and 16 walks.

Island Coast 8, Riverdale 7: After Riverdale scored five runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 7, Aiden Cecil’s walk-off single scored the game-winner for the Gators (1-1). Cecil was 2-for-3 with two RBI for the game. Kevin Rodriguez, Eddie Boe Rodriguez, Emilio Gonzales, AJ Finco and Dylan Masters also drove in runs for Island Coast. 

Gulf Coast 7, Ida Baker 2: Walker Holmes and Matt Moreno drove in the Bulldogs’ (0-2) runs.

Cypress Lake 4, Mariner 0: William Wilson was 2-for-3 for the Tritons (1-1).

Softball

Cape Coral 7, Gateway Charter 0: The Seahawks took full advantage of nine Griffins errors to score seven times on four hits. Camryn Maurer was 1-for-3 with an RBI for Cape. Kiersten LaCombe struck out six in five innings.

Ida Baker 18, Oasis 1 (3 innings): Zoe DeJournett (2-for-2, home run, three RBI, two runs scored) and Juliana Nieves (2-for-3, three RBI, two runs) led the way for the Bulldogs (1-1). Dominique Parker 2-for-3, two runs scored) and Makayla Nieves (home run) had two RBI each. Oliviah Sylwestrak struck out seven in three innings.

Cypress Lake 10, Mariner 0 (5 innings): The Tritons are 0-2 to open the season.
