Prep Roundup: Davis throws perfect game as Rattlers roll

Brendan Davis (2-0) pitched a perfect game with seven strikeouts as the Belleview Rattlers baseball team routed Eastside 16-0 in five innings at the Gainesville high school Thursday.

Davis also led the way at the plate for the Rattlers with four hits, including a double.

Camden Abshier went 2-for-3 with a triple, Jarrod Sweeting finished 2-for-3 with a double and Jackson Dennis had a two-run double.

Belleview (2-2) hosts Eastside on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Dunnellon 13, Crystal River 2: At Crystal River, Landon Hitt (1-0) pitched six innings with six strikeouts while allowing only one hit on Thursday against the Pirates.

Dunnellon was led at the plate by Trent Townsend (3-for-4, 2 doubles, RBI, 2 runs scored), Anthony Hyche (2-for-4, 2 RBIs, run scored), Leo Gomez (1-for-2, 3 RBIs, run scored), and Drew Leinenbach (2-for-4, double, 2 runs scored).

SOFTBALL

North Marion 14, Vanguard 6: At Vanguard, Brooke Kinsey held the Knights to just three hits over seven innings with eight strikeouts. 

Kinsey also went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, a walk and two RBIs.

Shelby Moran (2-for-3, run scored, RBI, 2 sacrifice bunts), Ainsley Grubbs (1-for-4, run scored, hit by pitch), D'nhia Johnson (1-for-4, inside the park home run, 3 runs scored, 2 RBIs), and Annalise Hernandez (3-for-4, run scored, 2 RBIs, 2 hit by pitch) helped power the Colts' offense. 

North Marion (3-2, 2-0 in District 3-4A) hosts West Port on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Forest 15, Crystal River 2 (5 innings): At Crystal River, Emily Bellomo (1-1) pitched five innings with five strikeouts while only giving up two runs.

Izzy Lewis (4-for-5, double, triple), Leah Meyer (3-for-4, triple) and Bree Samson (1-for-2, 3 walks) led the Wildcats at the plate.

Forest (3-1) plays at Gainesville High School on Monday at 7 p.m.

Forest 7, Dunnellon 0: At Dunnellon, Taylor Martinelli and Macin Woods each won their singles matches, 8-0, for the Wildcats.
