Pembroke Pines Charter overcomes Jesuit in OT

LAKELAND – Elijah Wyche scored seven of his game-high 24 points in overtime to lead Pembroke Pines Charter to a 63-57 win over Tampa Jesuit in the Class 5A semifinals of the FHSAA boys basketball state finals Thursday at the RP Funding Center.

The Jaguars will play Choctawhatchee in the Class 5A championship game Saturday at 3 p.m.

Each team had a seven-point lead at some point during regulation. Jesuit trailed 53-50 when Jack Delp tied it with 7.3 seconds to play with a 3-pointer. Pembroke Pines missed a shot at the buzzer.

Kolby King had 14 for Pembroke Pines Charter (12-3) while Pete Laidley had 12. Ryan Weir led Jesuit (25-5) with 16. Joe Posansky had 13 and Kai Ravenna 11.
