Eau Gallie head baseball coach Bob Collins gets his team ready for a game.

Bob Collins has passed another milestone, this time his 400th victory. The Eau Gallie High baseball coach hit the mark with a win over Cocoa on Friday.

The Commodores have won two more games since, and they are perfect for 2021 at 6-0. Tuesday at 6 p.m., they'll host 6-1 Merritt Island in an early season clash of two of Brevard County's top teams.

When Melbourne visits Friday, Collins will be recognized with a special ceremony, and his former players are invited to attend.

The Eau Gallie coach reached victory No. 300 in April of 2015 with a win over Florida Air Academy.

Satellite boys lead nation with record-setter

In just about a month, the Satellite High 4x800-meter relay team has set and then improved on its own record.

Saturday at Holy Trinity, the Scorpions ran a race of 7:44.57, the best in the nation for 2021 and the new school record by 12 seconds. The team was comprised of Justin Wilson, Josh Stern, Joe Wester and Gabe Montague.

It was the fastest time ever by a Brevard high school team, and it's the ninth-fastest time in Florida high school boys history.
