Prep Roundup: Tigers rout Knights

The Dunnellon softball team won its second game in a row by shutting down visiting Vanguard 12-2 in five innings on Wednesday night.

Macie Dewitz drove in three runs on two hits with two runs scored for the Tigers. 

K'mari Williams and Maggie Williams each had two hits, an RBI, and two runs scored.

In the circle, Dunnellon's Cortney Desena pitched four innings and gave up one hit with three strikeouts. Leanne Sonneberger earned the save by pitching an inning with one strikeout.

Dunnellon (5-8) travels to South Sumter on Thursday for a 6 p.m. first pitch.

Forest 14, Crystal River 3 (5 innings): At Forest, the Wildcats won their fifth consecutive game to improve to 8-2 on the season.

Izzy Lewis finished 3-for-4 and Ciara Kelley had four hits and four runs scored to help supercharge the FHS offense. 

Jill Bellomo and Leah Meyer each finished with two hits for the Wildcats.

Melody Poling earned the win in the circle after giving up zero earned runs over four innings with six strikeouts.

Forest plays on Friday in the Doc4Life tournament at Shocker Park.
