HS Roundup: Dunbar Tigers Classic top local performers; Immokalee, CSN, Mariner, Bishop win

Athletes from Dunbar and Naples high schools had big days at the Dunbar Tigers Classic track meet on Saturday. The Dunbar boys tied for second and the girls took home third place, while the Naples girls took second.

Individually for the Dunbar boys, Ahmad Watkins won the high jump and Leonard Mustari won the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. For the girls, Lucheyona Weaver won the 100-meter dash. Naples had two winners from the girls' side as Molie Jean Baptiste won the high jump and Lauryn Brewer won the pole vault.

Baseball

Mariner 11, North Fort Myers 3: The Tritons were led by Matthew Morales, who went 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI. Dominick Cotoni, Jeffrey Mackey, Anthony Pimentel, and Sam Duvall all scored at least once for the Tritons.

In the loss for North, Blake Busbec went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Seacrest Country Day 11, Naples 6: The Stingrays' offensive was effective, led by Matt Riley and Thomas Capero, who both had a two-run home run. Jackson Geiger went 2-for-2 with two RBI.

In 3.1 innings of relief, Riley allowed three hits while striking out three.

Softball

ECS 4, Cape Coral 0: Zoe Yzaguirre pitched a completed game, allowing one hit in seven innings. Offensively, Mackenzie Thompson, Jazelle Rivera, and Kylie Shaw had two hits each. Yzaguirre also contributed on offense,  going 1-for-3 and one RBI.

North Fort Myers 10, Port Charlotte 0: The Red Knights dominated the Pirates, led by Maddy Tajeda's two hits and two RBI. 

Sydney Morris, Alexis Morris, and Desarie Devine scored two runs each. Kendell Wylie (5-1) gave up one hit in five innings, while adding a pair of hits and one RBI. 

Boys Lacrosse

Immokalee 13, St. Brendan 1: Immokalee had no problems finding the back of the net, led by Bryan Lara with four goals. Jorge Aguliar, Marvin Museau, and Eric Martinez added two goals each.

“After the emotional game last night and a two-hour bus ride to Miami our guys came out a little sluggish and only held a 3-1 lead at the half," Immokalee coach Scott Rickard said. "After the halftime break the offense woke up and took an 8-1 lead heading into the  fourth quarter."

Cardinal Gibbons 16, Barron Collier 6: The Cougars suffered their second-straight loss, as goalie Colin Quinsey had 21 saves. Jack Hoaglund scored three goals, Miles Stowe scored two, and Joel Telitz scored one.

Girls Lacrosse

CSN 18, FBA 1: The Seahawks dominated the net, led by Taylor Glennon's three goals, while Sloane Atterbury, Kylee Demeo, Breanna Daley, and Kaitlyn Confer all scored two goals. Annie Kaplan and Kylee Demeo had two assists each.
