DeLand's Kevar Williams, right, races Lehigh's Tarvarish Dawson and Parker's Aaron Bell at the Bob Hayes Invitational in Jacksonville.

The state's elite athletes head to Jacksonville this weekend for the Florida High School Athletic Association's track and field championships.

Classes 1A and 3A compete Friday; Classes 2A and 4A, as well as the state's top para-athletes, take center stage Saturday.

Two of Florida's best sprinters hail from the Volusia-Flagler area — DeLand's Kevar Williams and Mainland's Cydney Wright, both of whom are the top seeds in their respective 100- and 200-meter dash events.
