The News-Press Athlete of the Week sponsored by Babcock Ranch: Justine Robbins, Cypress Lake

Cypress Lake softball player Justine Robbins received 2,239 votes to win The News-Press Athlete of the Week sponsored by Babcock Ranch for the week of May 3-8.

Robbins hit two home runs, scoring four in an 8-3 win against Jensen Beach in a Class 4A regional quarterfinal game on May 5.

Canterbury baseball player Evan Ames was the runner up with 940 votes after hitting a solo home run and a grand slam in the same inning in the Cougars' 17-0 win against Bradenton Christian in a Class 2A regional quarterfinal game on May 7. 

Other nominees were Dunbar track and field athlete Leonard Mustari and Canterbury track and field athlete Jessica Edwards.
