St. Thomas Aquinas senior Eddiyah Frye can say she left high school as the top girls track athlete in the state.

The Raiders standout was voted Florida Dairy Farmers’ Miss Track, the organization announced on Monday. Dillard coach Davidson Gill was voted Florida Dairy Famers Boys Coach of the Year.

Frye, a North Carolina signee, helped lead St. Thomas to the program’s third straight state championship.

She won state gold medals in 100-meter hurdles (13.53) and long jump (19 3-3/4). She also anchored the Raiders’ state-champion 4×100 relay and has the best high-school time in the nation in the 55-meter hurdles (7.84).

While Frye helped continue the Raiders’ championship run, Gill is hoping to start one. The Panthers coach led the program to its first state championship this year. Dillard won state gold medals in three relay events, scoring 80 points at the state meet and beating runner-up Miami Belen Jesuit by 56 points.

“We have been trying for so long to win a team state title,” Gill told the Sun Sentinel after winning the championship. “This is huge for Dillard because we always fell a little short in the past. My staff wanted to get this done for the Dillard community.”
