On Saturday, the CCCHS Red Raiders finished the East Robertson Classic with a loss to Friendship Christian and a tie with Hendersonville.Â
CCCHS Red Raiders: 4, Friendship Christian Commanders: 6
In their first of two games, the Red Raiders were pitted against the Friendship Christian Commanders.Â
The Red Raiders would score first with Cole Pippenger on a Trevor Jesse single, giving Coffee County a 1-0 lead in the early going.Â
Coffee County would stay in front until the Commanders scored twice in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead.Â
The Commanders would also score one run in each the fourth and fifth innings to lead 4-1 heading into the sixth inning.
The Red Raiders would not sit down quietly, scoring three times in the bottom of the sixth inning to knot the score up at 4-4, where it would stay through the bottom of the seventh.
Friendship Christian would score two runs in the extra inning to take a 6-4 lead, and hold on for the win.
For Coffee County, Trevor Jesse had three hits and one RBI, Cole Pippenger had two hits and Colter Neel, Trey Turner and Brendon Sheppard each had one hit.
Nate Rutledge, Trey Turner and Matt Moore each had a turn on the mound with Moore earning the loss with three innings pitched, two runs allowed on three hits, one strikeout and one walk on 47 pitches.
CCCHS Red Raiders: 7, Hendersonville Commandos: 7
For their second contest of the day, the Red Raiders faced the Hendersonville Commandos.
The Red Raiders would lead the game early on, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead.
The second inning would be scoreless, then each team scored a run in the third inning as the Red Raiders continued to lead, 3-1.
Hendersonville would cut the lead to 3-2 with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning, then each team would score another run in the fifth to make the score 4-3.
Coffee County would strengthen their lead in the top of the sixth inning by scoring three runs to lead 7-3, however, the Commandos came storming back with four runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the score at 7-7.
Neither team could manage to break through in the seventh inning and the game ended in a tie with Hendersonville outhitting Coffee County 8-6.
Nate Rutledge and Colter Neel each had one hit and two RBIs, Trevor Jesse and Blake Hillis each had one hit and one RBI and Cole Pippenger along with Bird Fellers each had one hit for the Red Raiders.
Four pitchers made an appearance for Coffee County with Isaiah Deadman getting the most work, pitching over four innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out two batters and walking one on 79 pitches.
The Coffee County Red Raiders are now 7-7-1 on the season and their next game will be a district matchup at Shelbyville on Monday, Apr. 1 at 6:30 pm.
