OOLTEWAH — A day after pushing Walker Valley to the brink in a one-run loss, East Hamilton went an extra inning to get past Cleveland.
Falling to the Feisty Fillies 5-4, Coach Norma Nelson's the Lady Hurricanes nipped the Lady Raiders 4-3 in eight frames.
Cleveland (7-4) will participate in the Wildcat Classic at Chattanooga's Warner Park this weekend before hosting Rhea County Tuesday for a big District 5-4A battle , before playing in the Clifford Kirk Memorial Easter weekend.
After five scoreless innings, both teams circled the bases three times in the sixth frame.
Cleveland's rally started with freshman Sofia Greene reaching on an error to open the at bat.
After the next two batters got out, junior Allison Farnsworth, who had homered in each of the Lady Raider wins to open the week, stepped to the plate and delivered her fourth double of the young campaign. The two-bagger upped her team-leading RBI total to 14 in 11 games.
Roane State signee Ashley Allen followed with her second "blast" of the season, giving her eight ribbies.
East Ham answered right away in the bottom of the home half of the inning with Ashlyn Watkins ripping a two run double and then scoring herself a few moments later.
Neither team could push a run across in the seventh frame, so the game went to "bonus play," where Watkins blasted a one-out, walk-off solo homer for the win.
Lady Hurricane hurler Yulai Woodruff not only ripped a triple in the contest, but went the distance in the circle, striking out 17 Lady Raiders and walking just one.
Allen countered with 5.1 inning, notching a half dozen Ks and handing out a pair of free passes and two earned run.
Furman signee Lily O'Bryan came in for the final 2.1, with a strike out and Watkins' blast the lone hit she allowed, saddling her with the loss.
East Hamilton booting a trio of miscues and left four runners on base, while Cleveland only managed three hits, with Allen knocking two, both the visitors left three "ducks on the pond."
