Harper named to All-Missouri baseball team

LISLE, Ill. -- Soon to be Sikeston junior Drew Harper made the Missouri roster of the Prep Baseball Report Futures Game which features most of the top Class of 2013 prospects from Illinois, Missouri, Ohio.

The one-of-a-kind, two-day event begins Saturday and runs through Sunday, at Benedictine University in Lisle, IL.

The Bulldog third baseman, who hit .317 with 20 hits, 14 RBI, six doubles and two home runs for Sikeston just this past spring, was picked as the No. 8 ranked player in the class of 2013 according to Prep Baseball Report.

Also chosen to represent Missouri is Dexter's Chase Young and Malden's Tanner Murphy.

Murphy, who is regarded as the state's No. 1 ranked player from the class of 2013 according to Prep Baseball Report finished the 2011 high school season with a .631 batting average, 15 home runs and 42 RBIs. Murphy was an All-State catcher in Class 2 as well.

As for Young, the Dexter infielder hit .409 with three doubles, two home runs and 12 RBI, while scoring 25 runs and swiping 13 bases for the Bearcats this spring.

Young has been picked as the 26th ranked player of 2013.

Most of Missouri's top Class of 2013 players will be on display at the Future Games, powered by Under Armour, on August 6-7. Missouri's roster features nine of the top 10 ranked Class of 2013 prospects on the team.

With each state represented by a team comprised of its best players, the two-day event will pit one state against another, until one team ultimately walks away with a championship.

Missouri will play Illinois on Saturday at 11:15 a.m. at Benedictine University. They will continue with games against Indiana and Ohio on Sunday at 9 a.m. and noon respectively.
