FEATS OF THE WEEK:Third-ranked Jersey City, N.J., St. Anthony beat regionally ranked Plainfield, 66-62, to claim its 12th state Tournament of Champions state title and extend the nation’s-best winning streak to 65 games. Senior Jerome Frink (uncommitted) scored a game-high 26 points to lead St. Anthony. ... In California, No. 6 Santa Ana, Mater Dei captured a record ninth state title with a 66-48 blowout of regionally ranked Sacramento, Sheldon in the Division I final. Katin Reinhardt (UNLV) scored 30 points and super sophomore Stanley Johnson had 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Monarchs. In the Division II championship, junior standout Aaron Gordon notched 33 points and 20 rebounds to lift regionally ranked San Jose, Mitty to a 78-57 rout of Carlsbad, La Costa Canyon. The Division IV title went to No. 21 Richmond, Salesian, which got 24 points from junior Jabari Bird in a 70-56 win over Los Angeles, Price. ... No. 10 Chester, Pa., repeated as 4A state champion and got its 58th straight win, thrashing Ardmore, Lower Merion, 59-33. Junior Rondae Jefferson led the way with 13 points and 11 rebounds. In the 3A final, No. 14 Philadelphia, Neumann-Goretti won its third consecutive title. Heralded sophomore Ja’Quan Newton scored 17 points to carry the Saints past McKees Rocks, Montour, 48-45. ... Denzel Valentine (Michigan St.) had 15 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists to propel No. 16 Lansing, Sexton to an easy 67-32 win over Stevensville, Lakeshore and its second straight Class B title.
