Bangor Area High School girls basketball coach Dale Godshalk, who guided the Slaters to the District 11 Class AAAA championship earlier this month, has submitted his resignation after 10 seasons.

Godshalk notified his players on Tuesday night and submitted a letter of resignation to the Bangor Area School Board.

Godshalk said his daughter Lauren is expecting her first child (his first grandchild) and he plans to spend time visiting her in Texas.

Godshalk, who was The Express-Times Girls Basketball Coach of the Year in 2007, said he just decided this week to call it quits.

Bangor finished 22-7 this season, giving Godshalk a 158-100 record in 10 seasons.

He didn't eliminate a return to coaching some day.
