CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s soccer coach Gavin McKinney announced the addition of Danny McBride to the Mocs staff.

“I am extremely excited to have Danny join me at UTC,” McKinney said. “I have gotten to know him over the last several years and he is exactly what we are looking for to help take the program forward.”

McBride’s duties will include recruiting, coordinating camps and monitoring academics as well as the day-to-day operations.

“He is a tireless recruiter who has built great relationships with players and coaches throughout the state. Danny also brings a great deal of knowledge of the game and will do an excellent job developing our players.”

McBride comes to Chattanooga from Eastern Florida State College where he worked with the men’s soccer team. The Titan’s posted a 13-3-1 overall record last season with an undefeated home slate. Eastern Florida claimed the Region 8 title and fell in the finals of the Region 10 championship match.

He trained an NJCAA First Team All-American as well as an NJCAA and NSCAA Second Team All-American. Many student-athletes earned spots on NCAA Division I programs after finishing their Titan careers and several more were invited to participate in Pro Combines.

His duties at Eastern Florida included daily training sessions and game day operations. He also had responsibilities with recruiting and working with soccer camps and clinics.

Prior to his arrival at Eastern Florida, McBride was an assistant coach for his alma mater King University in Bristol, Tenn. The Tornados advanced to three straight Conference Carolinas post season appearances and were awarded the NSCAA Team Academic Award. In 2013, the Tornados upset the Conference Carolinas No. 1 seed in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament.

In his time at King, three student-athletes were named NSCAA All-Southeast Region Players, 12 were named to the Conference Carolinas All-Conference team, 11 student-athletes earned Conference Carolina “Player of the Week” honors while 14 student-athletes were named to the Conference Carolina All-Academic team.

McBride’s also worked with the FC Dallas TRI as the head coach and Academy Site director coordinating coaching clinics and training sessions for players U6-U16. He served as an assistant coch for the Tennessee Olympic Development Program and was founder and camp director of the Twin Tornado Soccer Camp.

McBride played for the King University Tornado men’s soccer team from 2007-2010 as a midfielder and defenseman. He was a part of two Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament champion teams after the Tornado won titles in 2007 and 2008 and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament in 2008. In 2009, McBride was named an NCCAA Scholar-Athlete and won the 2010-11 Team Hardcore Award and in the same offseason was named Region Athlete of the Year, presented by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Prior to coming to King, McBride played in the academies of two Scottish premier leagues for seven years. From 2001-2004, he played with the Dundee United F.C. and then moved to the Dundee F.C. where he played until 2007. He went on to play one season with Arboath F.C. in the Scottish Second Division where he represented Tayside Region Select Team and the Scottish Schoolboys U18 National Team.

McBride is a 2011 graduate of King College where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science. In 2014 he received his Masters of Business Administration Specialization in Marketing and Finance.

We are aspiring to do great things in the future,” McKinney said. “Danny will play an integral role in helping us get there.”
