A doubleheader sweep on Monday pushed the Henry County Lady Patriots middle school softball team’s record to 13-7 for the season.
The Lady Patriots battled to pull out a 5-4 six-inning victory over McKenzie in the first game played at the Henry County High School softball field. In the nightcap, the Lady Patriots blasted Martin 10-1.
Henry County hosted Hous- ton County Tuesday at HCHS and will battle Inman Middle School at 4 p.m. Thursday at
McNeill Park.
HENRY COUNTY 5, MCKENZIE 4
There were six lead changes before the Lady Patriots got in front to stay in the bottom of the sixth inning with McK- enzie.
Blair Putman singled home Izora Bond and Avery Cox for the walk-off victory.
Allyson Smith allowed one earned run on six hits in pitching all six innings for Henry County. She had eight strikeouts.
Smith and Putman both de- livered two hits in the contest.
HENRY COUNTY 10, MARTIN 1
Sixth-grader Emma Thompson threw a com- plete game victory for Henry County against Martin.
She gave up two hits and walked three with six strikeouts in the five-inning contest.
Smith, Lily Davidson and Bond each had two hits. Henry County had nine hits in the contest.
