BAILEYTON — Braylen Melton went the distance in the circle and just allowed one hit on Friday to propel Wartburg Central's softball team to its first-ever state tournament berth. She struck out 12 while not issuing a walk.

Melton also had a 2-for-2 day at the plate, while Jade Brooks hit a double and drove home three runs in the third inning of a 7-0 win over North Greene.
