Sarah Catherine Ryan (Memphis, Tenn., St. Agnes Academy) scored two late goals, including the game-winner with just 16 seconds remaining, to lift the Lady Bucs to a 2-1 come-from-behind win at West Georgia Sunday afternoon.
The Wolves (3-5, 1-1 GSC) struck first in the 58th minute, when Jessica Young headed in an Anna Cusick free kick. Ryan tied the game back up at 1 at the 74-minute mark as she gathered a cross from
Anna Laskarzewska (Edmonton, Alberta/Archbishop O'Leary) and fired a quick shot into the bottom left corner of the net.
In the final seconds, UWG seemed clear of danger after shots by
Carleigh Stratton (Memphis, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) and
Allison Tutt (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) were blocked. But on UWG's goal kick, an errant pass gave Ryan a chance to win the ball. She turned the opportunity into a breakaway and scored the game-winner with 16 seconds remaining in the game.
Robyn Wade (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) made two saves for the Lady Bucs, who out-shot UWG 15-12, including a 6-3 edge in shots on goal.
The Lady Bucs play five of their next six games at home, beginning Wednesday night at 5 p.m. when they host Northeastern State.
