MEMPHIS-Christian Brothers University softball coach Paige Wright-Lovett announces the signing of Northpoint Christian School infieder Katie Barnes to a National Letter of Intent to join the Lady Bucs next season.
Barnes was a two-time first team all-district performer for Northpoint, hitting .468 for her career and earning team Most Outstanding Player honors twice. She hit .509 as a senior, adding two home runs and a .772 slugging percentage while hitting safely in all 18 games, earning a spot on the
Commercial Appeal Best of Preps All-Metro Team. As a junior, she hit .431 with hits in 17 of her 19 games. For her four-year varsity career, Barnes collected 75 hits against just 18 strikeouts.
Barnes is the Lady Bucs' fourth signee of the year, joining Menifee, Calif., outfielder Holly Oyhenart, St. Benedict catcher Olivia Parsels and Pearland, Texas, outfielder Amy Koury.
