Zack “Cheese” Hutchko scored five goals and Sage Rector had four goals to lead McCallie to a 17-5 win against visiting Ravenwood in a state quarterfinal lacrosse match Saturday.
Rector also won 10 of 16 faceoffs and McCallie goalie Conor Owens had eight saves.
Defending state champion McCallie (10-6) will play a semifinal match in Nashville Friday in thee Tennessee State Lacrosse Association.
“We were excellent in transition today and won the majority of faceoffs which gave up possessions,” said McCallie coach Troy Kemp.
“We also played strong on defense and were able to recognize what they were doing on offense and make the necessary adjustments."
