MURFREESBORO -- Tuesday was a good day for the Meigs County softball team, but not so good for the young ladies from Whitwell.

The defending Class A champions from Decatur got another perfect game from junior Ashley Rogers and rolled to a 9-0 victory over Jackson Christian while the Whitwell Lady Tigers came out on the short end of a 5-1 final against Forrest.

While Rogers was doing her usual thing for Meigs, she was also the hitting star as she collected three of her team's 14 hits and had three runs batted in, including a solo homer in the sixth.

Teammate Madison Crabtree also had three hits and two runs batted in on homer in the third inning.

Rogers finished the game with 16 strikeouts.

The Lady Rockets scored two runs in the fourth inning and put things away with three more in the seventh while Whitwell's only run came on a single by Carley Terry in the seventh inning.

Forrest finished with 10 hits while the Lady Tigers were limited to just seven, including two from losing pitcher Anna Yell.

Other Whitwell hits came from Camryn Haag, Raylon Smith, Layla McEwen and Caitlyn Rollins.

Whitwell is scheduled to face Jackson Christian on Wednesday at 11:30 while Meigs County will face Forrest on Wednesday at 5:30.
