CHS, EHS and HVHS remain ranked in state AP poll

Three county teams remained ranked inside the Tennessee AP Top 10 Prep Football poll.

In Class A, Cloudland moved up a spot to No. 7 after dispatching Hancock County on Friday night. The ‘Landers tallied 71 points in the poll – 21 points behind No. 6 Coalfield.


South Pittsburg, Dresden, and Huntingdon were the top three teams in the poll.

In Class AA, Happy Valley recorded 77 points to come in at No. 7. The Warriors, who rolled past Cosby, were 10 points behind No. 6 Lewis County.

Meigs County was ranked No.1 in the poll with Union County slotted at No. 2 in the poll.

Elizabethton held steady at No. 6 in the Class 4A poll. EHS recorded 100 points – just two points behind No. 5 Marshall County and six points behind No. 4 Haywood. The Cyclones had a decisive victory again Grainger on Friday night.

Greeneville was ranked No. 1 in the poll, with Crockett County and Anderson County ranked No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.

Other local teams ranked included Science Hill (No. 8 in Class 6A), Daniel Boone (No. 6 in Class 5A) and Johnson County (No. 3 in 3A).
