ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. – Riding the running of senior Lyric Schmit and the jumping of freshman Madison Cowan, the Sullivan South Lady Rebels romped to the 2018 Three Rivers Conference Track & Field Girls’ Championship Monday at Citizens Bank Stadium.

South piled up 204 points, well clear of second-place Sullivan Central’s 92. Sullivan East was just behind in third with 85 points followed fourth-place Elizabethton with 80.

Cowan was named as the Meet’s Most Oustanding Field Events Performer after winning the high jump (4-8), the long jump (15-11) and the triple jump (34-11½). Cowan also took first in the 100 meter hurdles in 17.58, finishing with a maximum possible 40 individual points in the meet.

Schmidt, a Western Kentucky soccer signee, swept the 100 meters in 13.81 and the 200 meters in 28.01 and combined with Abbey Clark, Mattie Topping and Olivia Kent to win the 4x100 meter relay (52.58) and with Clark, Topping and Tiffany Corby to win the 200 meter relay (1:52.64), setting two meet records in the process.

Clark was second to Schmidt by 0.08 seconds in the 100 meters (13.89) and by 0.06 seconds in the 200 meters (28.07).

Kent placed second in the high jump (4-6), second in the triple jump (29-7½), and third in the long jump (14-2½). South’s Corby went 14-3 to finish runner-up in the long jump, was third in the triple jump (29-3¼) and tied for fourth in the high jump.

The runner-up Lady Cougars got a win from Laiken Hoback in the 400 meters (1:02.46). Hoback also teams with Maci Cloninger, Kara Giles and Maggie Brewer to place first in the 4x400 meter relay.

Cloninger also placed second in the 800 meters while Noemi Morales was second in the 1600 meters (6:06.62) and third in the 800 meters (2:43.60).

The Lady Patriots failed to snag any event wins, but consistently placed to earning enough to points to finish third. Among the East highlights were a second place in the 400 meters (1:03.97) and a third-place in the 100 meters (13.19) by Katie Anderson. Rebecca Glover was third in the 400 meters (1:05.72) and fourth in the 200 meters (29.44).

Camiel Oliver was solid in the hurdles, crossing second in the 100 meter hurdles in 18.59 and crossing sixth in the 300 meter hurdles.

Elizabethton Lady Cyclones set three meet records in winning five events. Lauren Pilkton, the meet’s Most Outstanding Runner won the 1600 meters (6:05.41) and the 3200 meters (13:29.03) and broke the 800 meter meet record of 2:34.03 set in 2014 with a 2:31.60.

Lady Cyclone throws Jasmine Roberts and Camryn Koroma claimed the top two spots in both the shot put and the discus.

Roberts threw 34-11 in the shot to surpass Kendall Ivester’s 2015 meet record heave of 32-3, while Koroma measured out at 112-9 in the discus to top Emily Schubert’s toss 104-4 in 2016. Koroma was second in the shot put (31-7½) while Roberts placed runner-up in the discus (98-1).

Unicoi County’s 4x800 relay foursome of Valeria Ponce, Kaitlyn Tilson, Jillian Taylor and Megan Todd won in 11:16.79, to best the mark 11:21.57 set the Lady Devils last year.
