SOCCER PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Garrett Beam

CPA, Sr.

Position: Goalkeeper

Why chosen: Beam maintained a 0.5 goals-against average while helping lead CPA to a state semifinal finish in its first season competing in Division II-A. The THSSCA senior all-star game selection posted 13 shutouts for the Middle Region champion Lions.

FIRST TEAM

Cameron Carroll

Rossview, Jr.

Position: Forward

Why chosen: Carroll, a two-star prospect according to Top Drawer Soccer, scored 26 goals and provided 11 assists for the Class AAA quarterfinalist Hawks.

Juan Cernas

Smyrna, Sr.

Position: Forward

Why chosen: Trevecca signee and District 7-AAA Offensive MVP scored 23 goals and provided six assists for the Bulldogs. He was a finalist for The Tennessean’s boys soccer player of the year award.

Brandon Parrish

Fairview, So.

Position: Forward

Why chosen: The District 12-AAA MVP scored 29 goals and provided 27 assists for the Class AA semifinalist Yellow Jackets.

Atakelti Gebregzabher

Station Camp, Sr.

Position: Midfielder

Why chosen: The two-star Memphis signee scored 16 goals and provided seven assists for the two-time defending Class AAA champion Bison. He was a finalist for The Tennessean’s boys soccer player of the year award.

Henry Hylbert

MBA, So.

Position: Midfielder

Why chosen: Hylbert scored 11 goals and provided four assists for the Division II-AA quarterfinalist Big Red. He was a nominee for The Tennessean’s boys soccer player of the year award.

Malachi Jones

Grace Christian, 8th

Position: Midfielder

Why chosen: The All-District 10-A and All-Region 5-A  selection scored 24 goals and provided three assists for the Class A semifinalist Lions.

Yanike Mashimabi

Stratford, So.

Position: Midfielder

Why chosen: Mashimabi tallied a team-leading 20 goals in helping lead the Class AA semifinalist Spartans to their first state tournament appearance.

Jack Lippe

Brentwood, Sr.

Position: Defender

Why chosen: In addition to scoring seven goals and providing three assists, the Rhodes signee and District 12-AAA Defensive MVP also helped anchor a Bruins defense that posted eight shutouts en route to a Class AAA semifinal finish.

Position: Defender

Why chosen: In addition to tallying three goals and six assists, the All-District 12-AAA selection also helped lead a Rebels defense that posted seven shutouts. He was a nominee for The Tennessean’s boys player of the year award.

Why chosen: District 10-AAA Defensive MVP helped lead a Commandos defense that posted eight shutouts en route to a third sectional appearance in four seasons.

Why chosen: Morand, who has coached the Bison since the school opened in 2002, led Station Camp to a 21-2-1 record along with the school’s second consecutive Class AAA state championship. The Bison outscored their three state tournament opponents by a combined 8-1.
