Jordan Davis, who signed with Alabama after a standout career at Southwind, will instead play this season at East Mississippi Junior College.

Former Southwind star Jordan Davis, who signed with Alabama in December, will instead play his freshman season at East Mississippi Community College.

The 6-5, 250-pound weak-side defensive end was a Mr. Football finalist in Class 5A and was also one of five nominees for The Commercial Appeal Sports Awards defensive player of the year after anchoring a Jaguars defense that allowed a region-low 242 yards per game. He was rated as the 108th-best player nationally in the class of 2018 and the sixth-best at his position.

Davis committed to the Crimson Tide in December of 2016 and saw that commitment through despite late offers from schools such as Tennessee, Florida State and Ohio State. He was also selected to play in the Under Armour All-America game in January.

Attempts to reach Davis Thursday were unsuccessful.
