Jackson area girls soccer, volleyball rankings for Week 1

With volleyball and girls soccer kicking off the season Monday night, let's look at the preseason rankings for teams in the Jackson area with a look at how they finished during the 2017 season.

The top high school volleyball and girls soccer teams in West Tennessee, as ranked by the USA Today Sports network. Teams eligible come from The Jackson Sun’s 13-county coverage area — Madison, Gibson, Henderson, Chester, Hardeman, Haywood, Crockett, Weakley, Carroll, Benton, Decatur, McNairy and Hardin counties.

VOLLEYBALL

1. Camden (35-7) – Finished in the Class 2A top four in 2017.

2. TCA (27-10) – Reached the Region 6-A semifinals.

3. South Side (34-6) – Made fourth straight appearance in Class 2A state tournament.

4. Crockett County (27-12) – Reached the Region 7-AA semifinals.

5. Chester County (20-12) – Reached the Region 7-AA semifinals.

6. Lexington (20-14) – Finished in the District 14-AA semifinals.

7. Milan (22-15) – Finished in the District 13-AA semifinals.

8. Middleton (21-12) – Finished in the Region 6-A semifinals.

GIRLS SOCCER

1. South Gibson (17-2) – Reached the Region 7-AA semifinals.

2. USJ (11-6-1) – Lost in Division II-A state first round.

3. Madison (13-6) – Made second straight appearance in Class A state tournament.

4. Chester County (13-7) – Reached the Class 2A sectionals.

5. McNairy Central (14-2) – Finished in the District 14-AA semifinals.

6. Jackson Christian (10-4) – Finished in the first round of the Division II-A West region tournament.

7. Adamsville (11-5) – Reached the Class A sectionals.

8. Lexington (16-7) – Made second appearance in three seasons in the Class 2A state tournament.
