Jackson Christian athletic director Jason Shelton confirmed that the turf field at Ronnie Fowler Field will not be ready on Friday night for the Eagles to host their home opener against Halls.

The Week 2 game has been moved to Halls with a 7 p.m. start.

Shelton said that there wasn't one single cause for the field not being ready in time, but one big factor has been weather.

"The construction company is telling us sometime between (August) 26th and 31st it will be ready," Shelton said. "Some days there is only so much that they can get done. Now, they are here in the morning before I am here, and they are here long after I am gone. They are working under lights."

The goal is now to have the field ready to host Davidson Academy in Week 3, but contingency plans are being sought just in case.

Jackson Christian enters Friday night with an 0-1 record after losing to Trinity Christian Academy 17-6. The Eagles won at Halls 33-6 in 2017.
